This Week...

We'll reup on FRPT (Fri. 5.09 -2.49%)-  With more troop deployment in Afghanistan, I doubt they pull vehicles from Iraq to cover.  The Adminstrration will do all it can to limit caualties. (W)

...but if there are casuatlties...(and, this wasn't planned)
SCI (Fri. 7.53 -2.84%)-  Got a good deal on financing due 2021.  Expanding.  They are in the Business of Death (Funeral Services), so it may not feel good for everyone's Port.  In the defense of this pick, I'll use one phrase: "Aging Baby Boomers".  It's strange for me, too, since I'm a firm believer in cremation (they run crematoria, too). (H)

CZWI (Fri. 3.32 -17.62%)-  This was NASDAQ's top decliner on Friday.  I'm making a Cowboy Trade on it Monday to test a principle of the New Strategy.  (C)

DUSA -  If you got IN on the 9th, Buy more.  If you missed the call, GET IN.

Next Week...

Stock prices were down, on Friday.  Sure, when we're looking at the Global Markets, Dubai was on the ropes and everybody knew it.  It was expected of them to simply write a check for their debt payments; that didn't happen.  Not to worry.  One will not be staying in these digs for $100 a night any time soon.>>>

It won't be like "shooting fish in a barrel", but there should be Buy Opps out there, next week.  We may have to Quicksell on +10% but that's going to be typical of the New Strategy.

Where We Are...

...we're on the right.
FULL SPEED AHEAD!

Check Dailies...

 CLWR broke out today...

Mantic Depressive Moment...

Wow...Thanks.

My constuency is wondering why I have moments of DOUBT  in The Market.
Subscribers to My Strategy can't figure the "bad juju" (phrase sent to in e-mail) of negative predictions.
My Advisors are irritated for misreading their data.

I have cautious people I listen to who are helping me to maintian the gains we've made.  A couple of them are predicting a dip, but I'm not so sure we're not experiencing that dip NOW.  Hell, the rollercoaster has been running for the past 45 days.  Luckily for us, we had used the "E" Ticket.

And Okay, Okay.  I got it.  Low Mantic Depressive Moments can cost us money.  The prime example being the miss, yesterday, on my Investment Project: CLWR.

Sorry guys,Stay Tuned...

"They've killed Kenny, those bastards"...

When I see these colors on the Holding screeen to my right and on the Working srceen to my left; then, swithing view, I see these in Cowboy..(knowing Green are the gainers...)

I have flashbacks of the Rookie Days; the feeling just after Buying a "Sure Thing" in time for the  Bust or Holding shares 'til the wither.
I had to Calm Down, then, and I'm staying Calm, now...well maybe.  I'm not so cocky, nowadays that I say, "We're so far Up in The Market, WHO CARES what happpens" with abandon (although, I still say it...).

I'd, normally, save the following for my Viewpoint Blog, but its too apropos:

Our REAL problem isn't today.  It's the investment quandry we're facing , in the months to come, when the Central Gov't Stimulus begins to run out.  The Leftist Congress and their crony in the White House have chosen not to create a real stimulus for job growth and prosperity through tax incentives.  They have given feel good money to the Masses (which may have well been free Crystal Meth) and propped up companies which should have been downsized years ago.  All this while giving Unions a new foothold in the 21st Century, and the American People looming deficits which are sure to cripple the Economy in the furture.

The bright spot on the horizon is that 2010 is an election year.  The General Populace which put this Leftist Regime in power, either by their votes or lack thereof, will surely be awakened.  As for the leftist legistlation currently on The Hill; let's hope that, indeed, "The sight of the Gallows quickens a Man's Mind".

(Tim Geithner looks as though he's thinking, "How much longer do you expect the American Poeple to swallow this jive?"...)

-I'm Selling 4.94 Ford.

-Codes change and 2 Synications in "New Accounts", today.  It's time Volatility works for us.

I'm going to be MANAGING  ACCOUNTS, this week.  I'm Buying only if I find gems which are too low or Reupping on currents.

ON CLWR...

Let me take care of CLWR!  If the company goes bankrupt, I don't care.  And WHY, as miserly as I am, would I make that statement?  Beacause THAT"S where I got the Idea for our New Strategy which is going to pay and pay and pay in the future.

EOW...Finally!

Yeah, I know.  The tide is Low in our Ports.  If we were Rookies, there might be a problem.  We'd have just gotten In and this would ALL be bad news.  We're savvy enough to know this downturn means Buy Opps are out there.  Time to put those captured profits to work.
Plus we've the W-E to ponder INs.  The FACT is that 2009 is in it's waining days and there are still Positions to be had which will pay in '10.   As a Trading Wonk, I think the "stars are aligned" for some those Buying Opps.

This is the beginning of our New Strategy!

(I Still think I made a SMaRT move, yesterday)

TWO BRIGHT SPOTS, TODAY!

Sold SMRT @ 11.40 on Nov. 05 Buy @ 9.48 in Working.  May be able to do better, but I just don't need the Retail Holiday Watch HEADACHE (or maybe I just wanted to Play).  Still, for a 2 week gain...

(Might have ignored this on a "normal" day, but it was the only thing in green on "DT 02" watchlist screen at Scottrader!)

  &&&
Teekay PAID at 4.23A!!!  You'll be happily surprised.
(Dinner tonight, on who?)

Thoughts for EOW (daily edit)...

The Positve note is the fact that we have Taken Profits for the majority of Buy Money, lately.  But a Loss is a Loss and I'm seeing a bunch of red on my screens.  I like to see 20% of a screen in The Black; not yet, today (9:49).
Editors and Commentators are indicating The Market is overpriced.  Well, true, euphoria will take us just so far, but there are Select Stocks and BOB's for which the roller coaster is on a more level plain.  We got them, or we wouldn't have done as well as we have in Holding Accounts.  Some of the Working Stocks are dragging and Cowboys (remember 20% in two days!) may as well be in the La Brea Tar Pits.  I've made some Rolling Stones Trades with my change, lately; but I should have opened a Fourth Catagory of Accounts known as "Pissing"!
Nap time.

Hey, I've got a Buy Opp for You (not a Program Trade): CAGTF @ .006, get 25% and GET OUT.  The caveat is to keep a sharp eye on the B/A.  I still consider this a Cowboy Trade ala TGIC.

HERE'S A GOOD LINK FOR YOU: U.S. Senate

Get involved with what's happening in D.C.,
if you've an opinion---
LET THEM KNOW!

HERE'S ANOTHER GOOD LINK FOR YOU: United States House of Representatives, 111th Congress, 1st Session

...and let these fellows know, too!

DOUGLAS45 RECEIVES "HONOR"...

The Fool is publishing my trading on SIXF as one of their...
(drumroll please)

Worst Trades of the Year

Hey, that was back in my Rookie Days!  I'll match my 187% Port Increase with any Fool.  Still, I'll take the bow.

ROLLING STONES TRADE...

We haven't had one in awhile, but I got IN to IROG (.80), today.  They're exploring for gold in India.  Gold?, sorry not intersested / Exploration?, hell, I could be "exploring" for gold.  So why buy, especially in veiw of the fact that I have to see CATGF in my accounts every day?  THAT's why it's a Rolling Stones Trade.

"Take $10,000 gonna have some fun/put it on a horse at a 100 to 1..."
But I only used spare change so I wouldn't go hungry...

Speaking of CAGTF:  I hope the death nell is being sounded.  @ .0067/down (another) 25.56%, today.  What did I pay for my shares?  So glad I didn't register this trade with Motley Fool; even I must maintain a reputation.

TAKING PROFITS...

F : ALL.especially the Blocks In @ 4.94.

FDX: maybe, but I'm Holding for the 90.00 payout.

DDS: July's @ 9.04.  For less anxiety re: Holiday Spending.

X: Wait for the 50.00 Mark, again (unless you need lunch money).

READ DAILIES, NOW.

("PROFITS Only". Plus, with the exception of DDS [W], these are
[should be!] in Holding Accounts.)

Holding Gem...

CRAY

Herd's In, May Be Time For New Strategics...

Everybody knows I like to Play the "Proprietory Watchlist".  Buying and putting Stop Losses on when price increases; Reup at Low Bids and Ride.  Gets tricky.  However, I'm thinking this will be my modus operandi going forward.  Luckly, we have good Diverisfied Ports with which to Play this strategy as long as the Roller Coaster is open.

D7L Holding Co. will develope a Standard List.  We'll open accounts for this specific strategy.  I have two titled "New Holding".  Check Statement and call if you're interested.

Calm Down...

Teekay's Late,
 but not TOO...on it!!!

PG on time.

This Week....

JVA (4.50) - This is a company I've watched and have, until now, found litte  reason  to invest. Over the past couple months The Gordan Family has taken steps to raise the profile of the company.  This will go into the "New Holding" Account, since ther will be a 6 month wait.  So why Buy, now?; Holiday coffee consumption.  It's a bet, but too safe (read: slow gains) to go into either a Working or Cowboy.

NOK (13.65) - With the Palm merger blowing over, I think there is a quick 10% to be made on Nokia!  Working gets this one.

XOMA (.71) - I passed, earlier, but we're In this week.  Board got "spanked", last week, which should force them to take action on research partnerships.

FDX - Going to $90, Buy More.  Put in Working Account.

FWLT - I'm In this for Holding.  2010 is a year they'll "neuter and fix" Congress and we'll return to a more Capitalist Mode of Op.  This co. is Set as a  Best In Breed for the Engineering Sector. (Too many "dog" mataphors!)

Something To Watch Before World Market News...

I catch Greg and his crew before the trading day begins.

I Should Have Kept Channel Surfing...

This fellow was on HLN, today, saying the time to buy individual stocks is over.  Really?, what then?: "Get into ETFs".

I say anyone who watches 5 minutes of commentary and thinks they know what Positions to take; well, they're not us.  I have advocated ETFs for Commodity Trades, but this low-rent version of the old Mutual Fund is not to replace our R&D and Due Diligence.

My views on "The Masses" is prominently known, but how stupid does somone have to be?...  Those people are satisfied with a 10% annual increase in their Portfoio.  I wouldn't waste a keystroke to Buy with that return...

This year has both spoiled us and made us more savvy.

"New" Postion @ DaTra Group.

Max will no longer be an Active Cousilor for us.

He will continue to advise ad hoc, but will no longer be involved with The Dailies.   Blocks and Sydications will remain @ $5000.00 and $10,000.00 repectively, with Slots @ $1000.00 .

 All Contracts remain intact through
D7L Holding Company.

(Rumor has it he's picking up the full bar tab on Sunday Nite)

FRIDAY'S POSITIONS...

DAR is set to release earnings, tomorrow.  They're the company which collects grease from restaurants and supplies it for a biofuel.  I went in today (yesterday) at 6.83.  They have had good growth which should continue.  We went in on DAR back in July 09 at 6.72 for Holding Accounts.  Since then, it has not performed as well as I'd like, but a birdie tells me it's about be in play.  Today's trade will be in Working Accounts.

Bought ACLS for our Holding Accounts.  They're supposed to become best in breed for "ion implantation".  My computer guy tells me about this company and what they do...can't understand the fundamentals...big deal.  We need to move toward diversification per October's Statement.  Put a Trailing Stop on the Buy.

PAY UP...

Sometwo owe me dinner...

Monday, November 9, 2009

At Least Vladimir Is Smiling...

With some in Congress attemping to create a  "Mother Goverment" and expose her bosom even more for the mindless suckling of the masses; I'm loathe to suggest a pick in the Healthcare catagory.  Coming down the pike will be attempts to tell Pharm Cos what they can charge.  Although I feel The Senate will stop this travesty, I don't want to be in a prolonged profit holding pattern waiting for the next administration (three years).

That said, I have chosen DUSA  for Holding.  Their "Levulan" sounds like a winner as more dermetologist start using it.  It's not on the radar screen (ala flu vaccine or cancer cure) and it's in trials.  Liability issues are factored in this purchase, so put SL after 10% Realized (and Trail Up).

CENX.  We'll be going with this, today.  I am a fan of Aluminum Producers, anyway.

The Next Wave...

Somewhere out there a new wave of "INs" to be had for our Ports.  Here is a list of Interests for R&D this W-E:

ACLS-BOFL-CENX-DUSA-INO-MOVE
NHWK-PHH-VVUS-XOMA

We've been stagnant, really, for the past month or so.  I don't like sitting on the swell; gotta have a pipe to ride to the sand.

LAZY Trade...

More TOO...
(pays for dinner @ 25% of port)

A MEEK Moment. "No, Douglas, tell us ain't so..."

Last week I cut the Cowboy Trade in TGIC in half
because I was uncertain about the trade.

I  owe dinner to a couple people.   As the GP and Prime Motivator of "Cowboys", the only explaination is that I must have had a mini-stroke.  Sure the money was dispersed to other Holdings, but WOW.  Wow-oh-wow...

Harbingers Of Slower Growth (or losing gains)...

For the first time, my advisors are cutting fees.  Unsolicited discounts in management fees (after already bargained down) is an interesting development.   2009 isn't over, but I seriously doubt is we could achieve the gains we had this year in 2010.  I don't expect the phenom in +%'s to run, even with increased R&D.  I'm up 300% (and heavy change) for the year, but not w/o some Dealing (we've paid broker's kids tuition even at Scott and TD).  Those of us who were IN took a hit in the Fall of '08; but I'd glady take another hit (with the same % loss) to have the same runup in 2010.  The last block of trades we made went to Holding Accounts with the exception of TGIC.  Even that trade, I cut in half and spread to our other Buys.
As for losing gains: we won't.  It's the contunued plays which concerns me.  The Game isn't over, but I think it will be awhile until we're playing in another Bowl.

Maybe we should think about reorganizing The Clique into
a formal Investment Concern.
(more truth than fiction in this...)

Results from The Quorum re: Next Years Taxes is due, soon.

This Week...

After Trades of last week, I'm taking a break to do some Zen R&D.   The leaves have changed color on Earnings Season, so enjoy the colors.  Looking around my Ports, I have lost some Feng Shui in The Chase.  Rearranging Ports to distribute Sectors, throughout.  If we weren't IN when Dow was at 8017, my Zen would be nonexistant.

"Interest" List includes Waste Management for some reason.  Am developing Rationale.  Mad as hell, missing Revlon runup on strong vibe and am somewhat feeling same about WM.  No, can not be more vague at this time.  Will consult Crystal Ball and Madame Ilana Baruch.

Got Eagles, America, Carole King and Yes queued for M-T-W.
Great for Alone Time.

(not to worry, I'll be in the mood for Kokus, soon)
