"Buy" prices not included...

I have been advised, by someone trustworthy, not to give actual prices of aquisiton.  The info was of dubious value outside The Clique, anyway, but that's the way it is.  I will commit to Bad Lad's Information remaining heplful and relevent through  "Watchlist" and Opinon  perspectives.

Thanks for continuing your patronage of

For the Week-End...

Go to this link to recieve a good appetizer recipe:

All Play and no play makes Douglas ("& Son") a dull boy.

A "Slight" Revelation...

A broker (Bryan) I deal with pointed out the difference between an independent trader and a professional.  How easy for some "Johnnie-Come-Lately", like me, to take an interest in the market in the Spring of 2009 and succeed.  Naturally, it was a very sly inference but I could do nothing but agree.  The revelation was profound and humbling at the time.  And, he's right, I can walk away and hand my Ports over to someone like him to manage (as Majors have been for 19 years).  But alas, who cares!

The Game is fun this year.

Sorta like the time I took up Golf.  New clubs etcetera.  Couldn't quite get into the rituals and inconvenience of the sport.  Hmm...  In the end, I sold the clubs and continued with the more aggressive sport I love; Tennis.
The Market may be my new Golf; the difference is that I'm keep the clubs, this time.  Or maybe The Market is like Tennis, since I love the aggressiveness of it all.  Go Play...

(Next week, we're going to be making money on the knee-jerk fear in The Market, today)

The "Rookie's" Advisory

I've got too much time on my hands?  No, but I have started another Blogging venture.  I would appreciate DaTra Group's participation in answering questions I receive from this site.  You fellas know enough about what we're doing, certainly, to answer questions issued by readers.  Remember how "Duh" we have been at times.  You may be able to help someone get a head start by avoiding our misTrades.  The idea is to expand the Investment Community through knowledge.  Contact me if you're interested.  Thanks.

This Week, Calm Down...

This is a corrective few days.  Keep in mind that our %'s are good enough to ride this out and we're in a Catbird Seat. There will be a few more shares in your ports when this is over (check today's statement).

I do not anticipate any stoplosses kicking in.
(I killed CLWR's  S/L , we're going to ride that bronc.)

What, I'm a rookie?  The days of Market Orders have been long over.  This is why you tip me out.

A Different Kind of WATCHLIST...

Not all my T.V. viewing is Market oriented...

POSITIONS This Week,

Remember, back in the old days when we threw darts at the board in the den and bought in to whatever company the space corresponded to?  Well, this week is going to a bit of a revisit.   I'll be cashing out stagnant stock and some parked  in MRT.

THE LIST

NewMarket Corp. (NEU).  This  Holding Company is involved in PetroChem.  I don't like petrol because I don't have the time to devote to the R&D and I'd loose my ass in a fundamental-based portfolio.  But, NEU is intesting to me.  The additives they produce for petrol are essential.  They are BIB.  3Q report REALLY caught my eye and I missed that extra $6 on Fri, but I'm in on Monday afternoon, regardless of price.  Now, for the nitty---I want to Sydicate the Buy to keep fees down.  The price Fri. was 103.05 (+6.04) and I am in for 20 shares; looking for 30 Slots to fill the Trade of 50 (standard arrangement).

GlobalScape Inc. (GSB).  As a full-service producer of software for secure data transfer on the internet, this is anothe BIB.  I has been in the Douglas 53 since inception and has, til now been rather stagnant.  New apps and expanding user base is the reason for this Trade.  I am in beacuse I think the stagnation will be over soon and I have the cash.  It has the main attribute for me, CHEAP; Fri. price was 1.69 (+.03) and The Cowboy needs a good buck to ride.

Triad Guaranty (TGIC).  Everytime I  think their office computers are being used to write resumes instead of doing business at hand, I like to throw a litle gelt their way.  That 25% bump in 2 days I made on the company when one of my accounts was tanking over the Summer is "legend"; therefore, I'm going to make another Rolling Stones trade on them.  I'm not okay with .80, but I'm going to trail the bid down and catch it.  It's Proprietary Mortgage Insurance Software is out the door to Essent for $30M, and that cash is going somewhere.  Yippikya.

Blackboard Inc (BBBB).  A provider of eduactional software to facilitate learning over the internet.  Let's face it, with the educational focus on computers, the inernet is the "Sally, Dick and Jane" of the future.  The reason to Buy this stock is a bet on that future.  It's will fit nicely into Holding Accounts.  Pricy, @ 38.50(-.26), as I cringe at anything above $20, but this is a safe bet.  You aren't going to lose, but I don't expect it to raise the roof .

Baskem S.A. (BAK).  This is a PetroChem company from Brazil.  The driving force to my faith in this stock; is the Olympic factor (ala CQB).  Max Agosy tells me it a grower, so I'll stick it in Holding.  14.27 (-.33), I'm IN.  Div is off, and that's disappointing.  We'll be going IN in Brasil until late 2011 and then were getting the hell out.

As for CLWR, our path is already set and I don't know why I had even considered ALTI.

This Week...

Stockwatch List this week will include:
NEU, GSB, TGIC, ALTI, BBBB, CLWR and BAK.

{Prepare to bring Parked Cash out and  to Take Profits.  NEU, for example, is $106.}

I'm Back...

I got back last eve to find a bit of a maelstrom over the CLWR situation.  Insider Trading is great, if one doesn't get caught (or lie to investigators ala Martha Stewart); but alas Raj Rajaratnam over @ Galleon et.al. did.

BAD news for us shareholders, but not disasterous. Why?, because I put a stop loss of 7.50 on that sucker when we bought our second in @ 8.00.  For those who rode with me on the first in @ 6.95, do the math and say "oh well".

Hey, that's not all.

Today, we put in buys @ 7.13.  I'll keep trailing that bid down and make the grab when this blows over.  And we've got the American Short-Term Interest Span on our side; this too shall pass.

Out of town...

I'm gone to the country, again.

Call if you can't live w/o me.
Will be checking DaTra Group Email @ O/N/C.

DOW hit 10K, today!!!, "Yippykya".

I escape to Ashe County (in the Mountains of North Carolina), and it is beautiful country.  I wouldn't recommend it for nightlife; besides, that is not why one visits there.  Road trip to sightsee real county locales, and spend the nights stargazing.  A good "get away".

Check out the place at these websites: http://visitwestjefferson.org/ or http://ashechamber.com/

Contrary to the photo I use to refer to my visits---take a look at Real Estate, there.  A good firm to deal with is Regency Properties: http://regencypropertiesnc.com/

The past week...

This will be a recap of the past week.
There were positions bought in CQB, STX, CSX and SIRI.

CQB: I have liked this stock for some time (in on June 8th).  I think it's a good buy for a sleeper.   Intuition tells me that bananas are going to grow in popularity. Since this is roughly 57% of operating income...
Then there's the Olympic Effect, banana Daiquiries are going to become VERY popular.  We'll also be looking for a Rum producer to buy, later.

STX:  Back on May 10th, when I was new to the Game, this was a stock I took for a Holding account.  I still think it's a good pick, but we'll be setting keeping an eye on Stop Limits in January.

CSX:  I know this is a slow mo pick!  My attraction to this stock is a "City Slicker" (safer than a "Cowboy")  Play.  It's a pure intuitive play as I have faith in future Rail Services operations.  It's been on my scope for awhile and I finally had the cash to get in.  It kills me to pay $44 + change for a share of stock; but it's a "best of breed".  I also used it for Portfolio Diversification.

SIRI:  Back in my rookie days, I could either buy SIRI or SIXF for my 25 cent trade.  SIRI won @ .23,and the Stock Gods were smiling on me that day (I did get in to SIXF, but I'll save that for another blip).  I had to take profit @ .52 for the purchase of another stock.  Over the past couple weeks, it's DOWN (not funny because I parked a some money there @ .69!) and we either reupped or went back in.  The rationale behind my continued faith in this stock is based, as usual, on the fact that smarter people than me are involved.  It's got to get to a buck or more to stay w/ NASDAQ.  We'll see.

Now for a Tale Of Woe for the week.  My cumulative holdings of 71153 shares of CAGTF @ .013 is costing me Dinner Money as you read.  I don't exactly know whether it's feast or famine on this GREAT BUY (if you could only know the sarcasm in my thought!) since the "Other OTC" Exchange it trades on is in the other side of the world and may as well be on Mars!  I can't find detailed info on the company and have long forgotten why I thought it was so good in the first place.  I perceived this as a Cowboy Trade, but even cowboys need money for boots and saddles.  Oh well...

"Cramer Effect" To Sell Today. Results Forthcoming, This Entry.

Tuesday October 06
Purchased two stocks spotlighted last night: CRM, salesforce.com, inc.  & STD, Banco Santander, SA.
CRM @ 57.67 / STD @ 16.02
(got the jump on "Stop Trading" segment earlier in day on Mon.)
87 shares of CRM and 312 shares of STD.  Roughly $5K per (I picked up change).   .

 Today, at 11:10A we devested:  CRM @ 61.97 / STD @ 16.43.
Profits after "tree" were $48.31 per 1000 dollar slot.  Although the Syndication didn't run as smoothly as I would have preferred, it was an intersting experiment and we'll do it again (??, we may have been lucky). The Syndicate had decided to run Project longer than originally planned due to Market Conditions last week

WATCHLIST For The Week Ahead (It's playtime...)

Here's what I'm looking @ this week:

Sleepers: NEU, STX, CQB, PUK and SWM.

SIRI (correction over?, hell, let's reup)

Cowboy play: still CAGTF, and observing TGIC

Analysis/Rationale later, but we're in.

NEW SYDICATION

I want to get a sydication together for a money grab on the "Cramer Effect".  10 slot deal @ 1K per.  I will take 3, others 4: 3 available.
Contact info:  CLOSED
In future, we'll also do a sydicate for dividend capture.
(Figure 3-5% on a 2 day deal w/ one commission, no holding)

Max said it wouldn't work under 50K, reason enough to try.

The day of the dartboard is over and I'm developing alternate strategies for our investment which will be cash intensive.

PAST WEEK

I'm back from my trip to the boonies; nice time for what I needed.  I reconnected with old friends and enjoyed my extended family.  My mother is great.  Okay...  I came back with an altered perspective of OUR business dealings.  I needed the time away from the constant barrage of information to get it; and boy, did I ever.

When conversations turned to the Market, there, I was a lone wolf. I wanted to talk strategies and trades so badly during the week, I could have SCREAMED!  I'm known as more of a Cowboy than a Serious Investor in my personal ports, and have earned the right to be a Cowboy with my +percentages, but I NEED input.

One of my aquaintances, there, is in a good stuation; better than most.  He moved back to the County, last year.  His house is paid for and he has a good pention from the (what else?) government job he held for 25 years.  He had heard about my interest in the Market and had asked my opinion; which I eagerly gave.  Not too detailed, but the advice (GET IN!) didn't fall on deaf ears.
BUT HERE'S THE THING: he had made no effort to educate himself to the Stock Market either through media or the internet (he has access).   Apparently, he had rather watch "So You Think You Can Dance" or "American Idol" than listen to news and commentary on FOX Business or CNBC.  As you know, these modes were educational tools for me during the first part of the year when I began dabbling.  With all respect to Mr Richlin, Esq in LA (whose help I could not do w/o); I've done nicely, thank you.  However, I don't give a damn about what Kate and Jon are up to instead of wheather or not the Saturn/PAG deal is going through (dead?, hold on).
My opinions on "guilty pleasure" viewing and pop culture is known by you all and the fact that one should have a MINIMUM of 3 portfolio AND 5-8 research shortcuts on the desktop BEFORE even 1 for gamming.  Our gamming is the Market!!!  If one needs a guilty pleasure, try "Cramer"!!!

Give me the w-e to get the mindset and relax, we're not going anywhere.  And DO NOT CALL ME WITH "WHY?" AS THE QUESTION.
